Selkirk Truss manufactures flat trusses for floor applications, fully customized to the customer’s needs. Our minimum depth is 14″ and a single ply is 1-1/2″ wide. These can be designed for up to 5-plies of thickness and varied depths (4′ plus).
Advantages in Design:
- Floor trusses can span great distances, creating larger open spaces below, unobstructed by columns and partitions.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and even beams can be run through the open webs requiring no dropped ceiling to conceal ductwork, which can make rooms feel smaller.
- Truss systems are quicker and easier to install than traditional floor joists, and because they’re manufactured in controlled environments, there’s less chance of warping, shrinking, and twisting of lumber.
- Manufactured floor truss systems also save timber resources by reducing the amount of wood waste generated during construction.
Advantages in Installation:
- The open web design allows for utilities to be run through in the floor system without drilling or cutting holes.
- Electricians, HVAC contractors and plumbers are off the job quicker.
- The consistent size and height of the manufactured floor truss makes sub-floor material installation easier.
- Decking and ceiling materials are attached directly to trusses without need for special hardware.
- These benefits will reduce the amount of time trade contractors spend on site, speed up construction, and ultimately save the customer money.
